Exclamation Engine install from the top?

Have any of you installed a small block or big block from the top with the suspension in place?

I tried to mock up my motor today from the top and I was having a hell of a time and ended up calling it a day with out getting it set.

Any tips or suggestions are much appreciated.

Thanks,

~Jim~

Am I missing something?

I did not have the trans on the engine so I'm sure that played in to it but I could not get the engine far back enough to meet up with the motor mounts.

Is it really just that simple or are there some tricks to it?

Thanks for the replies.

well all the times i do mine, i do trans and motor together like so:

usually if it wont seat correctly, you may wanna make sure the trans is lining up correctly. or try lowering it a bit more and pushing it back. you just gotta play with it.

We used an adjustable engine hoist carrier. it lets you shift the angle of the engine.

Ya I thought about using a leveler as well.

I'm getting the car back today so I'll have to look into getting a leveler.

Thanks,

~Jim~
