the block numbers are the same as they always been. you can look on the side or on the back. they will actually say 5.0 or 5.7 on them. but the 350 is the one with a 080 for the last three. thats the most common. or look for an R at the 8th digit in the vin if its in the truck still.

I would go ahead and replace the intake gasket if you use a vortec motor....if you are switching to carb then you would have to do that anyway.

why not just a good holley 750 and swap the intake out to a vortec-carb intake...like a rpm air gap or something.

the tpi is ok. but im not too sure on that "conversion" intake. its only rated to 5500. i would at least want 2500 to 6-6300.

ehh i kinda like the tpi(its not TOO bad)...but with 305 i can never spin the tires from a roll or anything even with 3.73s(it will chirp somtimes tho)...its actually boring to drive bc of that...i jus wanna go from a slow roll like 5mph mash the gas and spin those fukkers..its anoying...im hoping a 350 vortec tpi with a 2500 stall will be able to do that

yeah 880 casting number is on the both sides of the block between the freez out plugs, and on the driver side rear of the block on the pad that the trans attaches to.

they are 1pc rear seal, roller cam motors.
you will need a special vortec tpi lower intake. i think edelbrock makes them. they are like 450 bucks though.
you can pick up air gap intakes real cheap for around 50-100 used.
factory rated at 260hp, 325-350tq or something like that. stock they run real strong.

i have a vortec block in my chevelle. has a voodo roller cam in it. you can use lt1 cams just have to push the down pin in.

if you plan to cam the motor, you must cut the spring pockets and retainer guides as the factory config is only good to .450ish lift.

good luck.

Happiness is a state of mind or feeling such as contentment, satisfaction, pleasure, or joy. A variety of philosophical, religious, psychological and biological approaches have been taken to defining happiness and identifying its sources.
