It may be difficult with stock 906 castings. For a camshaft, you will want an aggressive hydraulic roller with around 236 at .050" duration and .580" lift with 1.6 roller rockers. Put it on a tight LSA (106 to 108). You will also need at least 10:1 compression to run that cam.

Maybe someone with more experience using 906's will chime in. I am putting out similar RWHP with my 350 using the above cam and ported 190cc AFR heads and 10.2:1 compression.

Ditch the vortec heads for that much power. With a 383 ci motor, you will get 450 FWHP and close to 500 TQ with the right cam and port work on the castings, that would be about 350-380 RWHP maybe. Get the castings from Patriot, they are with screw in studs and have a 185 cc runner and flow 250 stock. That would be a better choice.

right now, the Vortec's are temporary. i'm only running them till i can afford some better heads, and they're an inprovement over the stock crate heads i have. the engine started out as a GMPP crate 350, the 290hp one.
