I'm looking to get a 3rd Gen TA and drop a Merlin 509" with the dual plane intake car will see weekends on the street and pull double duty at the track (a power adders later on) . This will be going though a TH350 with a 3600 stall, steel drive shaft, and prolly a moser dont know with one yet. Headers into an X pipe with moroso spiral flow mufflers dumped before axle. This is a rought draft of mine and the wifes project car.

I had a beater 79ta years ago. I wish I kept it.
Anyway
Just decide if it’s going to see more weekends or more track time, cause you wont like the 3600 stall on the street. My 71 had a 3500 in a th400 then I went to a 2800 then to a 2200 and a 700r4. But I do weekends and almost never get to the track. The big block in od just gurgling down the street idling at 40 is kinda cool, and you have so much torque it don’t take long to get the thing revving off the line. Sometimes you get so stuck on making a low number at the track you loose the drivability. The only time the 3500 stall didn’t feel slushy is from a dead stop or wide open.
Good luck with your project.

i plan to build a procharged and fuel injected 396, hughes TH-400, and run global west/QA-1 suspension, w/ about a 2" drop, and SSbc power disc brakes and tall f-body spindles. i plan a stock looking interior w/ some modern upgrades. i will run torq thrust II wheels (17" w/ grey centers) and BFG tires. its going very slow, cause i'm broke, and its hard when you are a full time student w/ a part time job.

i'm running a 83 chevy shortbed 2wd truck. it has a 91 350 block with vortec heads and a 94 lt1 cam and a holley 700 dp. th350 with a tci 3500 stall and 3.42 gears. it has run a best of 13.58 @99 on hoosier QTP 27x11.50x15's with a 1.95 60ft, and has run many 13.60's including a few at the end of the season using the stock steel rally wheeels with 235/75/15 winter recaps. i was pulling 1.95-1.98 60ft with them.
I'm looking for a nice big loping cam for it to break into the 12's. then i'll probably pull the motor and tranny and drop in a fox body.
does anyone know where to get a set of cortec bowtie heads?? im almost done with a 383 and need to know where i can pick up a set of the new bowtie heads
Well i put enough little mods. on my car to hold me of for a while when i did the v-6 LT1 swap. Now I'm ready for the next step in mods. I'm picking up a set of Trick Flow 210cc competition heads from Avanced Induction with included cam. Then i'm in the market for a good 383 forged package set up for the bottom end. I've been in touch with vortech to order the f-body
T-Trim package for a world of boost. Keep in mind anything else engine wise that needs strength will get it. I do this stuff for the opportunity to learn on something i love any advice is always appreciated. i'm already loaded with UMI performance setup all adjustable and 3 point sub frame along with torque arm. Moser rear is on the list too. I just purchased a Tremec TKO 600 5 speed trans. Also anyone know where to find a good fuel pump for a 94' f-body capable of my future mods.
Project start date: Feb 1st of 2006.

1940 Dodge step side truck w/350 SBC & C30 chassis
Chasis & drive shaft will be shortened by 20". Dodge truck cab, bed, etc., need to be reconditioned as well. Don't really like the body work part of the build, but will sweat through while looking forward to the final assembly & engine set-up. Has the original 3 speed manual transmission. The C30 chasis is in amazingly good shape. It was used in a farm truck which is probably why the ball joints, steering box, U-joints, & brakes were all in good shape; rusted, but, good. Only changed the tie rods so the front end alignment could be adjusted. Originals were good, but, rusted to the point where adjusting them was out of the question. Am really looking forward to learning how a carb & distributor engine works. Everything up to now that I've done has had PCM controlled EFI. Will post some pics.
