DYNO DAY at ETMC in Longview Jan 24th
Stephen AKA firefly9r68 is having a dyno day at his shop on the 24th of January. Cost will be $10 per pull with a minimum of 2 pulls. Please add your name to the list so he knows how many to expect. He will be starting at noon. The address is in my sig. It will be good to put names with faces.

98 ls1
00 heads, stock but surfaced
pac 918s
comp 230/224 xe lobes, 111+3 and supporting mods
doug's longtubes
cai
ls1 intake...yeah I know
ported 98 throttle body
open cutouts, dunno if the tune was optimized for open or closed
stock stall
shift kit
12 bolt 3.42
only real thing is at the time I didn't realize throttle position sensor was only seeing 92% throttle due to carpet in the way, do have 295/50 on old school aluminum mag wheels eating up some, car smells nasty rich any time I drive
worst part was breaking the tailhousing on the second pull and getting stranded

so whats the procedure for running the autos on the dyno??? what gear, from what rpm to what rpm, do you manually hold them in gear with the shift lever, etc.

You want a third gear pull at around 3000 RPMs or a tad higher to keep the transmission from down shifting into 2nd gear and causing the torque readings to spike ridiculous numbers.
Let them know where you rev limiter is set and run it to that point or just shy of it. I always watched the dyno operator and he would watch the dyno tach and tell me to get out of it. I hardly ever bumped the rev limiter doing it this way.

so you are lifting say 100 rpms before the limiter and that keeps it from bumping it. with the autos, arent downshifts determined by speed not rpm. mine will go into second at anything 70 mph and lower. from 70+ you can go full throttle and it will stay in 3rd till 120.
