| 1998 Trans Am Firehawk Found this video. How many did they make in 1998. Though they didn't make any in 1998 due to safety certification problems? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J4Dv3...eature=related

| There were like about six? prototypes. None of them were official as they didn't carry the proper RPO code. None of them actually got the headlight package either. |

| I think there were 8 built as test / prototypes / media testers (like the one in the video). While at least 2 that I've seen pictures of did get the cool headlamps (this red T/A and a silver Formula), they were eventually replaced w/ the pop-ups. Most of the protos were crushed, the rest sold. I've seen a red T/A for sale in the past.
I wanted one of these so bad, mainly because of the cool headlamps. But as soon as it was announced no '98s would be offered to the public and the '99s would have pop-ups, I "settled" for my (more aggressive looking) WS6.

My buddy had one but just took it and sold it at the Barret-Jackson auction in vegas. All numbers were verified and it was one of the 6 prototype 98 Firehawks. |

| I thought a while back David Hamburger said he had a set of the headlights(maybe the prototype) sitting in his office. Any one else remember this?

| Yes he does. We contacted him and he said he put them there to draw attention to his online store lol. But doesnt really want to sell them. We also too the car up to the SLP headquarters outside of Detroit and David autographed under the hood and gave some more records and magazines of the car when it was featured.
You guys would be sad to know what the car sold for. |

| My brother has one of the 98 formula Firehawks, he lives in VA. He visits this site from time to time, so he might chime in give you a little more info about it. I do know that it was signed by all of the SLP guys. |

| 1998 Firehawk SLP claim that the Firehawk is a quicker car than a WS6 does not hold water. I have both 2000 Hawk and 2001WS6. The WS6 has a bigger intake at the air dam and pulls off the line the same as the Firehawk. But after 60 miles per hour the WS6 has got a very slight edge. I am seeing more very good condition WS6's fetch more money in the buy sell market than the FireHawks |
