i got a 95 Trans am and want to convert it to a Ws6 or a Comp T/A
Whats better because ws6 didnt come in 95
and in 96 and 97 there was both Comp T/a and ws6?

| Well if your car is silver then I would go with the Comp TA clone, but any other color just do the WS6 package. Just my 2cents. |

| depends. if you go with the Comp t/a, are you going to say it as a clone or tell people it's a real one?

| comps were silver and very rare i know because i have a 96 Comp T/A with every option available with only 75k miles i would go with the ws6 look. besides how are you gonna find all the badges to do a comp plus your cars red. the comp owners will flame your ass if you clone one of them they have a website and if one of the owners spots your car and they will and they will know it's fake because the ash trays have badges that are individually numbered along with special stickers in the door jams and they will post your car up as a fake plus where are you gonna find the wheels center caps and all the other stuff to do it, i mean i guess you could but it's gonna be really exspensive, it would be much easier to do a ws6 clone and no one would know the difference or flame you for clonning one. SLP doesn't offer any of the trim for them anymore in fact the stuff they have left over you can't even get your hands on it unless you send them your vin and it matches up as an original Comp.

| I think you should be able to put Comp T/A stickers on anything. After all, isn't that what SLP is doing with the G8?
(ow ow ow stop beating me ow ow ow)
I agree, if it's not silver, don't do the Comp T/A stuff, go WS6.

| Really, its up to you what you like. I had a 96 WS6 Formula and my parent's have a couple of Comp TA's. The hoods and air boxes are the same except 95 Comp's say Comp TA.
As for the badges, the WS6 is definitely easier to get. The SLP stuff used to be on ebay, don't know if they are still there. But they were selling everything, stripes, emblems, ash tray plaque, etc. The wheels are very similar to the late WS6 wheels.
As for the VIN, neither will tell you.

karl | Comp T/A wheels were also used on some WS6 cars. The Speedline wheels.
I had a set. I even have some carbon fiber bowtie center caps for them.

Theres things I would easily be able to pick out between a clone and a real WS6 but the average person will not notice. I personally hate it when people clone because its not real and being a real Formula WS6 owner doesn't help but its your car so I wont tell you what to do with it.

| why not just add the ram air hood and box and leave it at that? since there were no 1995 WS6's, its kind of dumb to put WS6 badges on it imho.. kind of like advertising a 1984 corvette as a 1983.
I wanted a WS6 when i got my car but i got such a great deal (6k w/ 85k miles vs all the 96 cars i found being 10k+ with the same miles or more) so i decided to make my own (added the wheels years ago and the ram air hood last spring) but i dont advertise it as a WS6
i used all oem parts for the ram air mod (even went to the stealership and paid $43 for the blockoff plate for the hole left by the old airbox... the rest of the parts i got for a very good price. $300 for an oem WS6 hood prototype that had never been installed on a car, and $115 shipped for the airbox & K&N. actually i did buy aftermarket hood grills but you can't distinguish them from the $190/pair for GM's. i paid $40 for the pair) but there is no reason to try to pass the car off as a WS6. I actually prefer the quad tips of the non WS6 to the ovals that the 96-97 had as well

Here's a pic of mine. This was a Borla/2OTL SLP spliced together and then a SLP passenger tip welded on to complete the look. Best sounding LT1 exhaust and was completely adjustable like the Borla.
Nice job on the 95!

thanks . When i got the car i knew i wanted to get black wheels eventually so i also didn't know if it was worth the extra $ for the WS6 package for that reason as well. i might have sprung for the extra package if it was like a $1000-$1500 difference, but it didn't seem like it was worth over $4k more (i got my car really cheap because 1. it was a private seller that was moving and 2. it had a few minor things that needed fixed like a grinding headlight motor, antenna mast that wouldnt go down (motor worked), and a few small dings taken out of one of the 1/4 panels. all of which i fixed for under $200. they were asking $7k and i talked them down to 6k. i think retail at the time was around $8500 or so (and $10-11k for WS6's which was where i was finding them at dealers) so the private party deal was a much better buy
