Default C6 navigation question.

I've had f-bodies my whole life and am jumping ship to a 05-06 C6. The C6 navigation is dvd based. Is it possible to drive around watching a dvd.

No, the factory system won't play video from the indash DVD player (only backseat systems have video capability). Why would you want to do something so incredibly stupid as watching video while driving anyway?

I have some rave dvds (tiesto, bad boy bill) I thought it would be cool to play through the dvd. Believe me I wouldn't watch it while I was driving. But it would be entertaining for my passenger. I don't know if you seen these videos of dpe's corvette but he appears to be watching something on his navigation.

Okay, nevermind, I went on to dpecorvettes. and found out how he was watching videos on his navigation. I never been in a c6 and after I saw that video I thought it was strange that a OE manufacturer would let the public watch videos in the front.

they have a factory override that wont let you watch unless the parking brake is on. Well, caddys i know for sure you can watch dvds while parked. Either way, you can find instructions to unlock the feature. Its built in, just disabled you know? Google search gm factory nav dvd bypass or something like that. All Aftermarkets are the same way. Pioneer, alpine, eclipse. All dvd based nav and once bypassed, play dvd's. Only downside is you have to take out the map cd to watch it. All these units are also used as the direct dvd player for rear screens so that right there should tell you they do in fact play dvds.

the main problem is that if you are actually going to watch a dvd in the car, you are on a trip correct? Well if so you want the navi on which wont work without the disk.

It's illegal to have any video inside the car that can be seen from the front seats while the car is in motion.

Plus what if you're intending the passenger to watch, and get distracted, and kill someone? Not worth the risk. Leave it working only when the parking brake is set...explaining things in court is never fun...and no amount of fun before that day is worth it.

the other day i drove Carmen Electra to a party, if i can drive with her in the car, i can drive with a stupid movie playing. If you're that easily distracted, you shouldnt be driving. I mean, what if a squirrel runs beside your car? lol would you watch it so hard you crash?

lol no I don't get distracted by nonsense either...just pointing out that shit happens, never know who's on the recieving end of your post that says how to make it play video though...and seeing a friend go to court over a death in a car accident makes you re-evaluate everything you do

And most teenagers think they're indestructable and infallible. The reality is they're too immature to understand the consequences of their actions (e.g. texting or watching video while driving).

if your phones like mine, its an amazing machine! I can write in cursive anywhere on the screen and it instantly types what im writing, the only time it gets it worng is when im walking and its bouncing up and down lol. Read your manual page for page the whole way through. I found like 15 things i didnt know my phone did!
