Default Best Place To Mount Shift Light

I need to know where the best place to mount a shift light is for a car with an interior I want to keep stock looking, I don't want one mounted on the dash and would prefer not to mount one on in the speedo/gauge cluster area, just wondering if there is anywhere safe to install one that is kinda hidden outta sight outta mind type of thing that still is visible when driving.

Any ideas?

Thanks for the input in advance,

Jeff

I've always mounted my Harlan shift lights in the defrost spot on the a-pillar. Clean, discreet, and easily accessible/visible.

Thats my set up, and the best spot in my opinion. It looks clean there, and is easy to read.

The other popular place is behind one of the AC vents. If you search, you can probably find a ton of pictures in either of the two places I mentioned to see what works best for you.

Once i get mine i'm thinking about putting it on top of the blinker/cruize control module. The defrost does look really clean though..

Mine is a daily driver so I didn't want the side window defrost inoperable. I put mine in the left middle AC duct. Passengers usually don't even see it, but it is pointed directly at me so I have no problem seeing it.

Also what do you all think about the Auto Meter digital pro shift system, I had the digital tube shift light in my Cobra and liked it but for the Camaro I would probably opt for the digital shift light gauge/tach and mount it in an A pillar quad or tri pod, I know its a bit more expensive but I kinda wanna see RPMs as well, since I got my h/c/i done I have noticed I have a pretty lazy factory tach, the limiter is set to 7200rpm and its smacking the rev limiter at a reading of 6500 on the factory tach....so this would be a good option..

I've always been a fan of the Harlans, but have also messed with a few Raptors.

i just installed mine on the steering column. its mounted right in the middle of the rpms so nothing gets blocked. I can see everything perfect and nice bright light even during the day. But if you are wanting a stealth look then either in the center ac vents, a pillar vent or down below the radio somewhere.

I think you should locate it to the place that fits in your preference. It's not in a location that will obstruct your view.
