Default Bolt on 6-Speed LT1 vs Civic 4 door

Last night I blew by a little 4 door riced out civic because its little fart can noise was pissing me off.

When it caught up to me at a stop sign (2 lane highway) the passenger yelled "LETS RUN EM!" followed by the driver flooring it and shooting sparks everywhere out of the front tires (wtf?). I was a little stunned and spun the tires a bit catching up (old beat up road). Due to this the civic got about a 3 car length lead on me.

By 2nd or 3rd gear I had closed the gap without even going WOT. When I blew by them I was going around 90 and it looked like the civic wasn't even moving. (hahaha). And I proceeded to about 120 and put about 5 bus lengths on it.

My friend with his bone stock 90's Eclipse RS 5-speed stick had beat this civic about 6 months ago so I knew I would have no trouble beating this pos into the ground.

During this whole race I didn't go WOT due to my engine being freshly rebuilt and I didn't want to strain it too much.

Anyways, it was fun raping some ricer ass. Down here in "MEXICO" there are a lot of these beaner rice-mobiles around with guys my age driving them, if a nice muscle car is around its owned by some old guy who wont race for shit.

At the stop light I flashed the peace sign at the driver, who just laughed, at least he had a good sense of humor about the whole thing.

The sparks you saw are what is telling me you didn't really win that race. He LET you win...

You see, during that (what must have been fierce)engine rev and the spin of the tires you witnessed the one and only VTEC.

1. Those were not sparks, that was fire.
2. Judging by the rate at which you were ahead... he MIGHT have completely disengaged the clutch.
3.You have been fooled my friend. You just got lucky.
4. In fact, you're lucky to even be alive!!
This is a classic case of a sleeper honda making an ls1 look bad.

But don't feel bad, this happens all the time.

lol
I doubt the thing even had VETC.

He found me at school later and said he beat me in the quarter mile, which he did, I was too busy laughing. What he ever so kindly looked over was the fact that I caught up and blew by going double his speed.

But you know how these guys are. These only see the side that makes them look good.

And he wants to race me again, glutton for punishment much?

if he beat you in the 1/4 i say he won. you gotta lay the line down otherwise people think its the texas mile and claim a win.

This is hilarious.... what is quoted above is known in the street racing world as "the Ricer Flyby."

You did it to him... hahaha... obviously *YOU* know your car was faster.

I used to get that all the time in my old mid-12's AWD eclipse. I'd see someone on the street (usually V8 RWD cars), AGREE to run them at the light, and pull <=1.8 sixties off the light (235/40/17 RT 615's, which pulled high 1.5's on the strip) and be gone.

I knew my car ran 12.7's @ 105mph all day long every time I went to the track so I'd shut her down at about 105-110mph and put the flashers on.

There were *LOTS* of times I could have been beaten if we were racing more than a quarter mile.... in fact, MOST of the V8 cars would have beat me if we raced for longer (due to traction), but it is what it is. You agree to race on the street, you agree to race under street traction - I'm not going to change the race length, mid-race, so that you can have a chance at winning...

... but of course, after my flashers are on, the idiots fly by at 120mph ...

That's not a classical case of Ricer Flyby though. Usually it's the fartcannon Civic that runs 15.0's that flies by at 120mph (if it can go that fast) about 20 seconds after the race is over

When I passed him it was pretty close to a 1/4 mile, at least I think so. I've never been to the track and this was my first street race.

Lesson learned.
