Friend Steve just picked up another RX-7. His other RX7 goes 11.003 at 132mph. He bought this car to play with and have some fun. Its still on stock twins and is just running more boost with bolt ons and of course his famous "SMG" Tuning. Friend Mike (04 cobra -9.90 at 140mph) decides we are gonna find this car a race.... calls his friend up with a pullied/bolt on 03 cobra. Cobra confirmed... we have a race. Get on the highway since its about 35 degrees outside (so nice ice cold Eaton for you cobra guys). Well heres the race. My flame suit is on for the cobra guys.
Driver mod needed for the Cobra. Hitting the rev limiter and missing shifts?
only missed a shift in the first race. Second race no shifting issues... however rx7 driver is probably the slowest shifter out of all of us... Thats why he went 11.003 at 132 in his other car.... slow shifter.

not sure... he only picked the car up 3 days ago and has just been tuning it since. Tune that was in it was garbage and was breaking up bad on the top end. We figure based on how fast its moving around maybe 350whp. Hard to tell. It pulls strong on the top end.

i dont hate cobras... actually i really like cobras. Extremely mod friendly and have a built rotating assembly out of the box.... how can you beat that? I just hate against the people who think there the best thing since sliced bread. They loose races.... they win more. But they still loose them. This was just a fun time because he picked this rx7 up for dirt cheap with utterly no mods and within 3 days hes already pulling pullied cobras. I give him a week before hes pulling pullied/ported cobras. Guys absolutely nuts with rotary cars. Only person in new england i would trust with them. His other rx7 is the highest trapping 2 rotor gt35r turboed RX7 in the U.S.

Slow shifting loses races that should be won. Especially against automatics.

yes slow shifting does loose races....especially against autos.... but neither car was an auto and the rx7 was shifting slower. Watch how the cobra pulls away on the shifts of the rx7. The race ended with both cars stretching out 4th gear...

IDK why but I thought the camera car was your GTO.
You sound like me. I'm about to start mine up today or tomorrow. Drive it for a couple months then probably build another one.
Yea as much as spending the money sucks... i enjoy building them. I hate to have to build another shortblock though but one of my good ol Accel injectors shorted and hydrolocked the motor.... got a nice crack all the way through cylinder 7's sleeve and block.
