I finally got the car back on the road after being down since early summer and I ran into a silver SRT-4 on the way to grab lunch today. It had tinted windows but looked and sounded stock otherwise, at least until we raced. He was at a red light turning onto my road so I threw him a rev and he followed me onto the highway.
I punched it on the on-ramp from second and by the top of third he hadn't really fallen too far back, so I slowed up and waited for him to get next to me. He pulled up and it was two guys clearly interested in running, plus I could now hear the blowoff valve going like crazy. I looked down and realized I was too high for third (short gearing in this car), so just as I was dropping to fourth they punched it. I hit fourth and stopped his pull about a car out. My RPM came up to a decent spot and I started to pull back slowly, then harder, and by the time I hit the top of fourth, I was maybe a car in front.
He signaled to slow down and we exchanged compliments. I tried to ask him if his car had the stock turbo (which I'm guessing it did) but he couldn't hear and asked if mine was stock. I told him nope and he goes, "That shit rolls!" Fun times and some cool guys.

That story's lame. On my way home I totally bitchslapped this sideways hat wearing punk in a pewter 2002ish Z28...or it might have been nearly dead even
Good kill! Is it just me or are there more and more impressively fast SRT-4's lately?

What does a stage 3 kit for them include? Just wondering if that kit has an upgraded turbo because I saw one up at Lebanon a couple years back running about 11.8 @ 117 mph with a stage 3 kit (according to him that's what it had, I don't know enough about them to verify this or not).

stage 3 is definitely uprgaded turbo...my friend had one with a fifty trim and it trapped 90 in the eighth...fifty trim will dfeinitely run close to you. could have been what it was.
my friend's was a stage 3 and had the fifty trim like i said. i dunno if stage 3 includes a fifty trim or if thats just what he put on

Stage 3 includes it's own turbo. It's a bigger version of the stocker, with the same hotside integrated into the manifold style. It also includes larger injectors, new PCM, and new map/tip sensors. If you get the toys options, there's a few more gadgets too.

Yeah, all I can tell you is that the BOV was loud as hell. I definitely pulled him pretty good once I got into my powerband, but I started low in fourth and with his hit he jumped out hard. I hate when I get a good race but then I don't get an opportunity to find out what they had done to their car.
