Default 99 Trans Am vs 99 C5 Vette

I was riding to one of my buddy's house today and was behind another one of my friends who drives a c3 with 22's. We had been behind a 99 or so C5 vette. We get to a decent straight away and my friend waves me to come around when I peek around to go the vette sees me. When I get to the back tire of my friends truck the vette hits it. SO I am just barely pulling then we run out of the flat sraight away and we are going up a hill thats getting almost to the top and I have gotten him to my door and a car is coming over the hill so when I check to see how far ahead I am I have gotten just enough to squeak in. I have a 99 trans am with performance package,lid,K&N, and ascd hood. We didnt get over about 120 or so.Should I have pulled that much on him I mean I started from behind my friends truck and got him.... I prolly pulled 4 to 5 cars distance on him.What do you guys think?

That's entirely reasonable! You car with those mods should easily pull that many lengths out on a stock Vette. Heck, my 6-speed beat an automatic vette from a roll, stock to stock, with me a length or so behind him like you were. Of course it wasnt 4 or 5 lengths like yours. Thanks man. I was hoping this wasnt going to sound crazy. I am planning on doing the dynomouth exhaust sometime later this week. With the mods listed above and the exhaust should I be able to pull 13.3's to 13.4's pretty reasonably?

I was on the way to one of my friends house on augusta hwy in lincolnton where I live. I dont think I want a piece of any of their cars. All I have is the mods listed in the 1st post and dynomouth soon to come.

if you dont want a piece of any of those cars why dont you go on the look out for classic collector and his firehawk, he only has a lid and cat back i think.

What does everyone cars look like? I was sitting at the sonic the other night and some guy rode threw with a purple trans am and purged his system right when he rode by....anyone on the board in the area have a purple trans am around here?

Are you sure you didn't have a run at it and that's why you got so far ahead on him? I believe a stock LS1 Fbody can sometimes pull a stock Vette (especially if the Vette is an A4), but on the highway they're pretty tough to beat stock vs stock.

I know how fast your car is .I've driven my friends 99 M6 Firehawk,black so I know.
He had(now has a 99 GTS)a Catback,Lid,shifter and maybe something else.

Christmas eve I drove my cousin Chris' 98? Corvette Coupe A4 Black with a SLP Loudmouth and It was considerably faster than the Firehawk.

I think the guy saw the car coming and slowed down because he was a nice guy or didnt wanna crash.
You should not take 1 car on any C5,something went astray there but you still won.

nah i aint got a clue who drives a purple trans am with nitrous, hell i havent even seen a purple ls1 trans am in augusta, i have seen a few purple lt1's though.

The guy in the corvette stayed in it until i got him to my door.....I know this because we were going 120. I dont tihnk he would have been just playing with me from like 55 to 120. If he had the motor he would have put me in my place. I think right when the car topped the hill he might have let out but I already havd pulled him to my door which was easily 3 to 4 cars. I started from behind my friends C3 sierra and my friend heard him hit the exhaust when at the moment I hit mine and he listened for him to let out and never did.

I am going to have to say that something went amiss in this little meeting. A bone stock Vette(even an A4) will run 13.0. Especially on the top end, they are tuff. But 4-5 car lengths, dunno about that. He may have chickened out. But like someone said, you ended up ahead so good kill!!!!!!!!

i have a 01 ws.6-m6.with a lid,k&n filter and a catback,i raced a stock 01 a4 vett and this prick killed me by three cars.at that time i was running 13.3's and he said he went 12.98 stock. something dont sound right,anyway now i run nicely in the 11's ,so the vetts can kiss my butt.lol.

First Good kill, Sounds a little strange though. I think stock vs stock these cars are pretty equal. Even if he was stock A4 2.73 and your mods 4 5o 5 car lengths is extremely much. Good Job though. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" />

the stock automatic c5's i've seen run at bradenton always seem to be in the mid to high 13's.

6 speeds are much quicker and the Z06's forget about it!!
