Default Stock 02 C5 Z06 vs. Full exhaust pullied 03-04 Cobra

My car only has a K&N air filter. The Cobra has headers, orx, Loudmouth exhaust, 2.8 upper pulley, crank pulley, intake and tune. The Cobra is making 15 lbs of boost and dynos in the 45x whp range.

We did about 4 runs. 2 races were from 35mph and two from 40mph. Every race was close race with me beating him between a 1/2 car to a full car by 120-130mph. Each run we both caught traction and I pulled slowly all the way up to 120/130mph. Good runs none the least. I'm glad to say that I'm able to keep up with a car that fast.

Thanks for listening to my story

J.

Very nice kill....

I have a friend who just bought a 04 Cobra with JLT Intake, Stg 3 Port Stig, 2.73 upper and 6lb lower pullies, full exhaust that makes 47xrwhp that wants to run me....

I have a 01 Z06 with just a Halltech Intake.... Dont have any numbers. Probably in the 34x/35xrwhp range from what Ive seen.

We will see what the outcome is though this weekend.... Hopefully.

Oh yea.... Nice choice on color too.

Thats the outcome Im expecting.... Just running him the fun of it. No need to feel bad about losing. The guy used to own a 03 Roush Stg2 and would get killed by everything he ran against. Its a big upgrade for him. Haha!

Good luck with the race. You might be able to get him if he isn't as good of a driver. Traction is going to be you best bet. Hopefully you hook and he doesn't.

A bit surprising.

When I was just pullied, the one experience I had with a C5 Z was completely different.

But, nice kills. Gotta love that top end pull on the Vettes

Hes definetly not the best when racing comes into play.... He used to never go "ALL OUT" when racing in his Roush, because he was afraid of something going wrong. Hes more of a carshow guy and likes to wax it every night.... Haha. Me on the other hand, Im not afraid to WOT shift every gear.... The stock clutch on the Z06 definetly isnt happy with me though.... Already slipping. The car only has 17k miles on it too. Haha.

Im still on the F1 SuperCar tires so traction is.... so, so. From a 40mph kick, I have to be in 2nd gear and still pedal it. Which is alil weird being the tires dont have 2k miles on them.... Not having traction is not something Im used to. Both of my Camaros had either 315 Nittos or 275 Mickey Thompsons outback, so....

He is still on the stock tires as well, so traction will be terrible for him. Should be fun!

How much were you putting to the wheels when you were pullied??

When a 01-04 Z06 and 03/04 Cobra race, the Cobra usually needs atleast 100rwhp more then the Z06 to make it a good race.... From my experience atleast. But you can never tell when youre on the street, so....

Drop your tire pressure to 26psi and that might help a little with taking him at the jump.

Good luck and keep us posted on the results.

A lot of guys can't drive their Z's worth a shit. I have a friend with a FRC with full exhaust and intake and he's beaten a lot of C5 Z06's but when I ran him I beat him by atleast 2 cars and pulling.

A pullied Cobra and a stock C5 Z are really close in a race.

Im actually at 25-26psi when I race right now.... It doesnt really bother me, because I have a set of 305 Nittos coming to me soon.

Hows it surprising?

Not trying to start anything, but most 02-04 Z06s are in the 35x-36xrwhp range stock.... With a few in the 37xrwhp. And like said before, a Cobra is gonna need atleast 100rwhp more then the Z06 to make it a good race....

With the Cobra only being at 45xrwhp.... To me, not surprising at all.

So you mean to tell me a Cobra is going to have to have atleast 430+rwhp to make it a "good race" against a stock Z06? Get the fuck out of here!

Good kill OP...however a 03 Cobra (coupe) with those mods should beat your car 8 times out of 10 IMO given the other 2 are from driver error. A bolt on/pulley'd 03 Cobra is a 115+mph car all day long. Most of them are around 117-120mph.
