wtf is that knocking noise........

I've been noticing this really loud knocking noise in my 99 z/28. I've only noticed it when braking. So I took it to a shop they put it up on the lift checked all the brakes and they were all fine. they didn't know what else it could be. Any one else have this problem before? How did you fix it? could it possibly be the brake booster? It sounds like its just right there in front of me when it happens. any ideas?

It could be a number of things but i would start by checking your upper and lower a arm bushings and maybe ball joints.

ive even seen the front struts do it so check there as well....

do you happen to have a ds loop? my driveshaft was makin contact with the loop support when i would brake.

Check your front sway bar bushings I had a friend that had them go bad and it started poopn and maken all kinds of sounds.

cool. thanks guys. I'll check all the things listed. any other ideas? and no i dont have a drive shaft loop. the car is completely stock and was a one owner, 84,000 mile car. I ordered an air lid for it and I'll put exhaust on it and do some free mods but other than that it will remain stock until I get it paid off!

Mine had a knock too. Mine was the brake rattle clips and rotors...i replaced all my rotors and brakes, and found caliper pin seized up... all better now, quiet as a mouse...

my ws6 is doing the same in the left front. i bought it last week its scheduled to go back to the dealership tomoro to be looked at. i will let u kno if they find out what it is.

Check your torque arm mount on your tranny. The bolt at the top which is hard to get to...came out.
