wow just seen this nice write up. looks easy and inexpensive compared to other BBK's these setup w/ 14" rotor should clear a 18" deep dish ZO6's. since they clear the 6piston already i assume, but u know what happens when u assume lol.

Those rims should work fine. If the spokes are a tad too close to the caliper, a quick trip to the auto parts store for some thin wheel spacers (3/32") will fix you right up. Or you could buy them in advance and just return them if they're not needed.
Why not? Look at the stopping distance of the 2004 CTS-V compared to a 2004 BMW M3. They stop in the same distance from 60 even though the M3 weighs 400 lbs more. I would say that GM did some pretty damn good performance engineering.
Maybe you meant the other way around.. the M3 weighs 400 lbs less? If that's true then it wins in pure straight line stopping power which is 1 test out of 1000.. we're comparing apples to oranges. But that's another conversation. I don't want to fill this thread with off topic stuff.
Good thread for anyone who wants to setup a big brake kit without dishing money for Brembo calipers.
Thanks Jason. By the way, is the v caliper the same one that is on the new camaro? Looks very similar??
I haven't seen them. If you have some pictures I might be able to tell you for sure. Or better yet, call the dealer and see if the raw calipers are the same part number.

Q. These fronts are way cool. Can I use the CTS-V rear calipers on the back of my F-body to have a matching set? A. I haven't done any research at all on retrofitting the rear brakes. Sorry.
Awesome write-up guys! I had a C6Z06 set-up to go on my car but the caliper would still not clear my C6 Z06 wheels when I mocked it up. Still needed a few mm to clear and I didn't want to run a spacer. I was also not overly thrilled with the track complaints on those calipers. I am definitely going to look into these calipers for my car since I already have the rotors. And definitely going to try to put the rears on the car as well. Gotta love the Brembo caliper shape. I will be sure to get pics if I can pull all of the parts together this year. If not, that is definitely on my winter project list.

Oh and definitely more pics of the brakelines and washers to show the set-up. Thanks!
Hmmmm, now you have me wondering if the newer CTS-V 6-piston front caliper would fit......
^^^ i am in process of try the new 09cts-v calliper and the zr1 caliper. i will let ever one know how that goes.
thing i cant find anywhere is what is the size of the cts-v rotor. dia? and think?
Sweet! I know the ZR1 caliper has the same attachment points as the other vette calipers. I am wondering if the new V caliper has the same points as the old one or of they changed the knuckle interface. Not sure about the rotor though. That is not published in a magazine article or anything on the car? It set so many records and received accolades. It's gotta be somewhere.....
Oh come on. You can't add 3/8"? You can do anything, man.
How much camber are you running at ride height? 0? Then add 1* negative and your car will corner better and the top of the tire will tuck in more. That should compensate for the spacers.
This looks pretty cool. I currently have a c5 brake conversion from LG, so I might look into selling those brackets and rotors and picking up this setup. Would look pretty badass behind the Ruff 278s I think.
A. That depends on several factors. First of all you will usually need an 18 inch or larger diameter rim to prevent the inside of the hoop from touching the caliper.
The second aspect concerns spoke clearance. This is where you get lots of different variables based of the shape of the spokes as well as the rim width and offset. If the spokes touch the caliper then you will need to space the rim outward. The easiest way to see if you will need a spacer or adapter is to measure your stock brake setup (12" LS1 rotor and caliper) and see if you have 1" of spoke clearance. Once you take into consideration the new rotor offset and the new caliper thickness, the conversion will stick out 1" more than stock. Measure the approximate area shown in the pic below.
.
Simple question: Will Not fit on '01Camaro OEM wheel 16" rim? Correct?
