Default monster truck brakes

im watching monster jam on speed channel right now, and it show's shots of the monster truck's suspension and brakes while racing, and there brakes are mounted to there drive shafts...i would have never thought of putting brakes there. its pretty cool. it has one in the front and one in the rear so only two really big rotors and calipers. seems to work well b/c it stops those huge trucks. i got to wondering how effective (positive/negitive) that setup would be on a street car or drag car. would that kinda setup work well on a street car or drag car? just curious what you guys think. it would be kinda cool to see that out on the street.

It's a driveline brake. I don't think you could find anything small enough to put on our cars like that. A good brake system upgrade would be a better idea, like a Baer kit or something similar.

Jaguar use to have an inboard brake IRS suspension.

A lot of hotrods use the setup.

Don't forget the H1/ HMMWV hummers. They run the inboard disc brake setup on all four.

Inboard brakes are great for reducing unsprung weight...

man... if i had car with fully independent suspension with aluminum arms, inboard brakes, inverted shocks and carbon fiber wheels... oh man...

I guess then i'd have a lot more trouble keeping the rotors cool and more complicated brake maintenance

It would be cool if we could do it at least on the rear of the 98+ Fbods. Then we wouldn't have to worry nearly as much about "will this fit?" when it comes to wheels on the rear for slicks.
