WTB: '97 3.8L V6 Long Block/Complete Engine
Looking for a low mileage 3.8L long block or complete engine for a '97 Firebird. I'm not sure what years are compatible with '97's but I think maybe the 98-02 should also fit. Let me know what you have.

I'd suggest a junkyard series 3 (l26). Easier to find in low miles than an l36. Also cheaper from junkyards than an l36. I found a complete one with 38,000mi for only $600. Swap over things like the upper and lower intakes, motor mount/bracket, idler pully assembly, alternator, and PS pump and it'll look just like an l36. The block has all the same holes and mounting points. Once you have them out side by side, it's fairly obvious what needs to be swapped.

i think the link you posted is a s1 shortblock and you need a s2 for your heads to boltup.. Im pretty sure you can find a good used shortblock for like 100-200 bucks now..
I wouldnt pay more then 400 bucks for a junkyard longblock.
