|  getting the car up in the air
I understand there are jacks can extend and get pretty high. But lets say you are dropping your tranny or something. Instead of putting a piece of 4x4 or 6x6. Is there something you can put between the jack and the car or underneath the jack thats a tad bit more safe?

jack stands or if your really paranoid get some car ramps and some wood

I just get a come-a-long and get under a tree branch and hook it to the front of the motor and jack it up like that. | |

oh im not scared of jack stands at all. Im actually incredibly comfortable with jackstands. I just want to be able to get my car up extremely high so i can get them up at the highest level. Its just hard to get the car up that high.
