Got my card # and I am off to Sears to buy some boxes!!!
Here is a link to the stuff I am getting, not the best in the world, but it'll certainly get the job done for me
through a combination of sales, instant rebates, mail in rebates, and the craftsman's club discount it comes out to $270 plus tax
You could see the details on the last page of this weeks circular "Buy all 3 for 299.98"
FWIW, I have never gotten very good service from Matco.
Snap-on, Mac & Cornwell have always done me right. Also, the Craftsman Professional series are pretty nice looking but I don't own any....my wrenches are Snap on as well as some Ratchets with all sorts of other brand in between.
S-K also makes some very nice tools and can be found at good prices but not as easy to get warranty stuff done....so I get the stuff I know I won't break like stubby wrenches, etc....hell picked up some GM metric stubbies that are pretty nice for cheap. Snap-on is nice, but I would only recomment buying the wrenches & ratchets unless you are very serious....otherwise, get the bulk of your stuff in Craftsman so you can swap it out easy....all sockets will break sooner or later....so it's handy to run around the corner to swap out.
Definate must! I was in the club when I worked there. I would get 10% off after the sale and the club discount. I loved working there in HS. I got my dad a 30Gal (I think 30, the big tall ones) 5HP compressor for less than $200 after taxes (normally over $500 at the time). A $1400 tractor for under $1k. I got myself a $240 246 piece tool set for under $60. A $100 vac for less than $20, etc...
Man I miss the discounts.
The reason I joined it so I get discount for extra tools needed to do maintenance on unusual jobs whenever a new car comes into the family household (another one is coming soon, I'm suspecting either a caddy CTS or a Audi A4) and right now there's a total of 4 cars:
2002 VW GTI 337
2000 Caddy Deville
1999 Camaro Z28
1974 Nova 377 stroker V8 (currently awaiting engine from overhaul shop)
My garage is strictly a maintenance base unless all maintenance is done on all the machines, it's used to store either one of the cars (usually mine most of the time)
and besides that, there's the lawn tractor, weedwacker, hedge trimmer, big snowthrower, etc so that takes care of the replacement parts costs.
Whenever I see some crap that doesn't belong there such as salt or old fluids or a goddamn full garbage bag, first thing i do is kick that crap out of there into the front of the garage and it ain't my problem that it's in the garage in the first place.
This is what I am eyeing once I get my membership card in a few weeks
matches the color of my car almost
Maybe some pretty new pneumatic toys to put in them too!
Thanks for the tip Nine!

SWEET, perfect timing. I'll be in the new house in 6-8 weeks with my 2 car garage. Now I can buy some tool boxes, and a workbench, and some more tools, and a new jack, and an Air Compressor, a peg board, and some more tools, and more tools. Any one else do this

I have been a member for a couple of years now, and it has saved me some money. Just bought a $500 snow thrower, on sale for $400, plus 10% off- $360! Not bad, and some stuff is better than that.
