Harmonic Balancer Bolt Removal - Home Made Tool
This sucker would not budge (and I wasn't smart enough to loosen it when the motor was still in the car). and I searched around and came up empty. The commerically available tools were all for '99 and up and I have a '98. All of the searching I did here suggested using the starter to bump it loose, but themotor won't be back in the car for a while So I built this tool for a few dollars and it worked like a charm. Took a a three foot long piece of 1" quare tubing, put in two 4" long 1/2" bolts spaced 4" apart, so I could still get at the center bolt with my breaker bar. A few minutes of wrestling and it was done
It's not pretty but it worked.
I hope this helps someone out down the road.
