I know this is a retarded question, but what would you guess the gas mileage is? I am looking at getting something like this paying it off then purchasing another DD. Also, is the rear bar removable in order utilize the back seats?

Yea, it has a removable cross bar. It gets 20MPG on the highway. City is probably more like 12MPG, but that is all a guess, never tested the street 100%.
