Look if Ford plays it smart (not likely) then they will keep the weight down on the GT and it will destroy the SS. IMO I really hope they do it because I hate the new Camaro. To me it disgraces all previous gen Camaros. Unfortunately even though Ford has been stepping in the right direction, I don't think they can keep the weight down. If you look back in history the formula with any muscle car has always been add power/ bigger engine + weight + heavy duty rear end. The Camaro did attempt to brake this pattern by giving it IRS, but they forgot to not add the weight. I think Ford has almost broken this pattern by refining the live axle when it comes to handling. They're now giving it more power. Now all they have to do is keep the weight down and I think the new GT will be the best muscle car to date.

With the money I save on the camaro I'll JUST do a cam and full bolt-ons and be making 500 plus whp. You could never say that about a stang, not that they aren't also bad ass but as long as chevy stays with lsx power trains they'll always be ahead in my book. This is one of the main reasons why I would never choose a stang over a camaro or firebird but to each his own.

Hate to rain on your parade but you will not be making 500rwhp with JUST a cam and full bolt-ons... Not even close.
And if you won't choose a stang, camaro, or firebird... Why are you here?

Heres what he was talking about with the M3.

Car and Driver

Lap times? If the Ford folk are to be believed, the current 2010 Mustang GT with the Track Pack can run a 1:39.7 or so and the ’11 car with the super-sticky tires was lapping in the low 1:38s, or roughly on par with our 414-hp BMW M3, whose brakes have seen better days and whose driver would not be considered a GingerMan expert. Either way, it looks as though the ’11 Mustang GT will obliterate the current car.

Mustang weighs over 3900 and has 400hp. The Camaro weighs 3850 with 422Hp. I wonder whats going to win.
