Hello,
Are you still using the same ecm and engine harness that came with the car?
Are there any parts that you used off of the LS1?
If so what were these parts?
I guess externally the 5.3 and 6.0 are the same.
Were you able to use the LS1 motor mounts?
Thanks, Gene

Parts needed from the LS1
Oil pan, windage tray, pick up tube, & dipstick
k-member & motor mounts
front acc's (water pump, alt & bracket, PS pump, balancer)
intake manifold & throttle body
wire harness & ECM
Basically you are just using the truck long block with everything from the LS1 bolted onto it.

lol i am sorry i have to say this..... why did you use dowels to hold the lifters up?? the motor wason the engine stand, flip it up side down.... no risk of lifters dropping (gravity is your friend), or pieces of wood splitters in your block

Didn't think about that...majority of the time when I install cams the engine is in the car, so I guess it was just natural habit to use the dowels, lol.
P.S. Hopefully when Daniel can scrape together some cash he can take his car to you to get it tuned. I told him to take it easy on the car until he does.

for sure! going to CMS is definitely my plan. But I made the decision to get some LTs first!
Can you run the LS1 heads on the 5.3 or 6.0 short blocks?
Yes you can. You will need to use gaskets that match the bore of the block, IIRC. But as far as stock castings go, 317 truck heads flow very well. You could have the heads milled slightly or use a cometic head gasket. Now if you bolt on a set of stock LS6 heads onto a stock LQ4/9, that would be the ideal stock casting to use.

Curious to see numbers, I used stock 317 heads on an LQ4/9 and a torquer v2 cam (232/234 595/598) and the best it could muster was 289rwhp. Good luck man!

What was the rest of your set up? Who did the tune? What springs did you use? Some thing is VERY wrong with that power number you put down. I doubt it had anything to do with the heads.
