im in the process of doing this right now... i read this thread a while back and actually thought of it while getting pulled. bad thing is... what i did.
so i'm sitting at the stop light with my left turn signal on 4 cops across the street at roses... they have someone pulled over.. pull out onto the road paralell with and i guess i was in the gas a little to hard... and lit em up. i didnt want to just lift and slingshot into the median so i stayed on the gas, and flicked it straight before it let up... i guess you could call it and accidental drift. well, he comes SOUTH HILL finest...flyyyyyyyying to catch up to me... he asks me what happened i said new car.. not used to it.. he said thats a nice car to be tearin up like that... wrote me Reckless by General Rule. wtf is general rule?! 4 other cops saw it to.. so. i plan on explaining how it was improper driving (almost losing control) and not reckless.. how if i had just lifted, i would have wrecked... hope it works... got another one in NC just last week for 62/35 but i got that one covered.... what yall think?

Alright so update, I got an extension until May 20something, well thing is, on the ticket the cop wrote 80+ in a 65. He has nothing on Radar to prove how fast I was going. All he has is he came up to us as we were doing somewhere in the 80s and pulled us over. I'm going to keep filing for extensions and fight this ticket. I have a clean record (even though I've had 13 tickets). Think my chances are good for this ticket to be dismissed because his lack of proof on the radar and whatnot?

No. and i was already there, so might as well just get it done. IM doing good so far.
do what you wanna do... but i'm betting you can go back in there and request to speak with the judge... then request from him another extension. In most cases you'll get it
