As long as the car is clean and no problems 7K seems fair .. I would save for a rebuild though..

If it was well taken care of and not *abused*, 143K miles isn't bad at all.

There was a '00 Corvette for sale near where I love with 300K on the clock, owned by a businessman who drove it daily. However, it was maintainted properly by a shop, and fluids changed at specified intervals, so it ran like a top, even with that many miles on it. Starting it up and driving it you'd never know it has 300K, it looked and felt more like 100K, except for the interior which was obviously pretty beat up.

I bought my Z28 for 4,800 with 139k miles on it. No complaints really, paint needs a bit of help and the rearend is going out on it but other than that it runs good, i wouldnt worry about it unless it was major, like i bought another rear for my car for $150.

i got my 98 formula m6 with gears and exhaust for $5700. car had 140k when i got it. he also threw in a set of never mounted 18 in. vette wheels for $200.
then again, i live in michigan, and well priced cars are hard to come by. everyone wants top dollar for their p.o.s. escort.
