| Opinions on a Trans- Am for sale Sup guys. Man i have not posted in here in forever! Anyways, I bought a 99 v6 camaro a lil over a year ago and it now has over 100,000 miles on it. Im ready to upgrade to a v8 and i think i found the perfect oppurtunity. A kid I went to high school with is selling his Trans-Am WS6 and he wants 4300 OBO for it. Here is the description he gave to me about it ( i have not seen it in person yet). "Its a 1996 trans am ws.6 with the performance package. Has a 5.7 litre LT1 motor with 68000 miles. Needs a pollution pump put in for emissions which is only like 100 bucks but it runs perfect. Has a 6 speed transmission t-tops headers and borla exhaust system. And aftermarket guages that light up pretty cool." So for 4300 dollars, I'm thinkin this is a GREAT deal and im just gonna sell the Camaro to my brother to help pay for it (he gets his liscense in a couple months). So I'm just wondering your opinions on it and if it really is a good deal? Like I said I have not seen it in person and plan on doing that ASAP. |

| sounds like a really good deal. if the pollution pump is part of the egr/air system then you could just remove all of it and clean up your engine bay then get some race headers with no emissions.

| Yea i'm sure the pollution pump thing would be no problem and I trust him a lot more than some random stranger because I went to high school with him (graduated in 07) and i still talk to him once in a while, so i know he wouldn't lie to me. Only thing that sucks is I live in Northwest Indiana which means winter is near and I wouldnt have a winter car for when it is crappy out. I cant imagine a trans-am in bad winter weather, my v6 Camaro was bad enough last winter. lol |

| This is LS1 TECH dude but the forum covers much than LSx based engines and cars which are LS2, LS3, LS7, LS9, LQ4, LQ9 and some more so yeah there's another V8 out there besides the LT1 but the LT1 is a strong engine though.

| Boy looking around at other offers people were getting on their Trans- ams, this price he put on it seems almost too good to be true. I don't think he would be that stupid to sell it that low. He's probably not telling me something. |

Looks like a good deal though if everything checks out and if that is what you want.

| if youre going up from a v6 to an lt then youll be very happy. the ls is a stronger engine to start with, but they both respond awesomely to simple bolt ons and either one will put a big smile on your face. plus the lt can be had fairly cheaper. i drove my T/A through MI winter last year and it really wasnt that bad. just be gentle on the pedal and take turns slow.I just got a bronco 2 for winter this year just because i dont want a salty bird.

| Thanks alot guys for the help, I will post back here with an update after I check it out. I saw a couple of pics on his myspace of it, it's black with I believe it's called a ram air hood right? The one that sticks up and has the two scoops on it? The body and everything look to be good in the pictures. I just need to get ahold of the kid to check it out in person. I also would not be able to test drive it because I have never driven a stick before! lol My dad tells me I would love it though because I am a huge racing fan ( NASCAR, F1, etc.) |
