KBB is used more often in the north where as NADA is more of a southern guide

I could see 12.5k for a 2001 trans am with like 30-50k here as a private party sale. But no way in hell would you get 12 or 13grand for a car at the dealership like that. Thats insane LOL

The problem is they are adding almost 4 grand to the base trade in because of your mileage. you may get an additional grand on trade in due to low miles, but to think that a dealer is going to give you 4 grand for keeping the car in the garage most of the time is asinine.

You never know though. LS1 cars at dealers around here are for sale for big money. One offered me 9k trade in when it was basically stock and 95k miles.

Like it's said over and over again, it's all about what someone will pay.

It all depends on the car. Like stated the guides are round about prices. Now a 87 chevy citation with 10,000 miles in perfect condition will be lucky to get blue book. Now a good low mileage F-bod can get more than blue book. It just all depends on the demand of the car. As for te gap between guides... I dunno. But I cant see a 01 Z28 gettin 12.5 Probably has something to do with banks. Cant get the right loan amount through one theyd probably resort to the other.

I hope you kissed him. Unless you per paying full tilt on the vehicle you were looking at. Most real dealers use KBB to price trades. Some time lots use NAPA. You're better off at dealers that use KBB, even though you're getting less, normally what you're buying is priced cheaper, unless you're buying a new car.

Lord help you if you ever use KBB as a definitive guide on a low mileage car. Ever notice that when you type in really low miles that the price stays the same in many instances? Just as an example: Type in any model '98-'02 F-body with 15,000 miles. Keep the options all the same, now type in 40,000 miles. According to them it is worth the SAME money. Pretty bad. KBB is useful for average mileage, fair condition cars to get a general idea of value. Otherwise, AVOID!!
