Materials Needed
- Soap and water
- Rubber hose
Step 1 – Set vent setting
The first step to fixing such an issue is to find what the culprit is. Start by ensuring your vent setting is set appropriately; it could be set on the defroster, which won't blow air from your regular vents.
Step 2 – Check for vacuum leak
The good news is, if your vents aren't blowing air through, the problem is as simple as a bad hose. If you can visually find the bad hose causing the vacuum leak, then you've saved yourself some time; however, if you can't, then use soap and water to find the leak. Turn your vents to maximum, then spray some soap and water on your vacuum lines under the hood. If you see bubbles, then you've found your vacuum leak. Check for the hoses behind the intake, going towards the passenger side.
Step 3 – Replace vacuum line
When you finally find your vacuum leak, pull the hose off to remove it. Take the hose to your local auto shop and get a similar sized one. Then install it the opposite way you removed it. Make sure it's snug and tight.
