5 Days of Corvette-ing

The five days of amazing Corvette-filled fun known as Black Hills Corvette Classic brought together 'Vette enthusiasts earlier this month for its 47th annual meeting. They started the trip out in Sioux Falls and traveled all through South Dakota from east to west to end up in Spearfish.

Corvette Enthusiasm

The Sioux Falls Corvette Club has been organizing the event year after year, and Jerry's Chevrolet was the gathering spot for this year's kick-off. Jerry's has a dedicated Corvette department, run by Barry Konker, who is one of the event's most important hands behind the scenes.

Let the Proceedings Begin

The grandeur of the event is attributed to the dedication of the Corvette Club members, who come out in numbers year after year and take part in one of the world's best Corvette gatherings. The event is kicked off with a gathering at Jerry's followed by a car show in Sioux Falls, and the 200 or so Corvettes head out west to begin the journey the next morning.

The Long Drive

The long drive between Sioux Falls and Spearfish consists of about 250 miles of open highway. This stretch allows for the Corvettes to be set free and play around a little on some open road, before coming back to civilization as they head towards the western border of South Dakota.

The Journey to Spearfish

The overall length of the road trip from start to finish is 393 miles. And with the regular stops along the way to have some rest and enjoy the scenery, the 5 and a half hour straight-shot trip ends up taking the Corvette train a little longer, allowing them to smell the roses along the way.

The Fun Continues

The festivities continued in Spearfish as the sea of Corvettes took over the city streets at night for a car show to be held the next morning. The fun didn't end there, however. There was plenty of activities to take part in, including autocross and drag racing, as well as music and plenty of partying to go with it. Click along to see some highlights of the event.
