Camaro/Firebird (1998-2002)

A facelift wasn't the only thing that the F-body Camaro and Firebird received in 1998. The muscle cars were also recipients of what would become known as one of GM's most formidable small-block V8 engines: the LS1. Though values for nice examples of the fourth-gen Camaro and Firebird have certainly picked up over the last couple of years, they can still be viewed as decent bang for the buck.

Chevy Silverado SS (2003-2007)

With the production of the F-bodies coming to an end in 2002, GM introduced a pair of performance pickups, one of which was the Silverado SS. Powered by a 6.0-liter LQ9, his sport truck was largely overshadowed by its competitor offerings from Ford and Dodge. A later Intimidator SS was added to the lineup to improve handling, but no change in the 345-hp powertrain.

Chevy SSR (2003-2007)

Offered alongside the Silverado SS, the Chevy SSR was more than just a retro/modern aesthetic. Offered with a 300-horsepower LM7 motor for the first couple of years, followed by the addition of an LS2 option for later models, the Super Sport Roadster failed to generate popularity while it was being manufactured. Its relative rarity has made it desirable with a niche following in recent years. Still, used prices aren't exactly going to make anyone bankrupt.

Pontiac GTO (2004-2006)

The Pontiac GTO was originally offered with an LS1 unit under the hood, but later models received the C7 Corvette's LS2 engine as well. The latter is surely more popular nowadays. But both versions are great choices for anyone looking to take advantage of LS performance.

Cadillac CTS-V (2004-2007)

A step up in terms of performance AND luxury, the Cadillac CTS V produced between 2004 and 2007 has always been a favorite among enthusiasts. Right off the bat, the V came with the Z06 Corvette's LS6 motor paired with a manual T-56 transmission. Later in 2006, the LS6 was replaced with the LS2, which has the same power output as the former at 400hp. Their desirability makes them less of a bargain than the other options on this list. But these Vees are still some of the most fun cars one can buy.
