5 Best LS Powered YouTube Street Races

Street racing is a stupid thing to do, and you ought to go to a legitimate race track devoid of police and random traffic to really see what your car can do. That being said, these match ups sure are entertaining to watch on YouTube.

1. C2 Corvette vs. C7 Corvette

Our first street race does in fact take place on the streets, but at least it happens under controlled traffic conditions on a closed road. When a classic, stock looking C2 Corvette lines up against a modern C7, most would expect the outcome to be a little skewed towards the new car, and they would be wrong. Top down and all, the old 'Vette dominated the new one for the win - from start to finish. Once again proving that old school muscle can be tuned to run with the technological toys of today.

2. LSX Willy's Jeep vs. Everybody

By now, you're undoubtedly familiar with this LSX powered Willy's Jeep, and if you're not, you really should be. This old SUV, without doors, top, windshield, or roll bar, looks like a death trap, but watching it make drag run after run never gets old. In this video, we watch the powerful, lightweight Jeep take on a modded Z06 Corvette. This particular race is a really good one, with both cars running just about dead even all the way to 180 mph, but you'll have to watch it to see which one wins. If that isn't good enough for you, there are many more videos of the old Jeep running against everything from Mustangs to Mazdas.

3. 4th Generation Camaro SS vs. Nissan GT-R

Nissan's GT-R is known for its ability to accelerate quickly off the line thanks to the superior traction of its AWD drivetrain, but this nitrous'd LSX powered Camaro SS stays right with him. By the end of the run though, the superior turbo power of the Nissan prevails, but the Chevy comes back and takes round two by a decent margin. After the Camaro suffers some tranny problems at the start of the third race, the GT-R showboats and takes off, only to end up with the fuzz hot on his tail. The police give chase but it is no use, and Johnny Law gives up after the GT-R hits the freeway.

4. LSX Mazda RX-7 vs. Mitsubishi Lancer Evo

Quite a few street races we see on YouTube border on boring, but here we have a pretty evenly matched pair that make several solid runs. For the most part, the nitrous'd, LSX swapped, Mazda RX-7 comes out ahead at the end, but the turbocharged Evo Lancer stays right with him time and time again. At least until he has to bow out with a fried clutch.

5. Modified Scooter vs. The World

This scooter, which outruns everything from a Shelby GT500 to a Suzuki GSX-R 600, might be the ultimate sleeper, well, except for the wheelie bars hanging off the back. Even though the owner claims that it's LS powered, no LS sounds like that, and power actually comes from a GY6 B 232cc engine. Less than .25 liters may not sound impressive, but the results obviously speak for themselves, even if the speedy scooter is a bit sketchy.
