100% Effort

You know you're in the right company when the people that bring you the Corvette team up with Barrett-Jackson to sell the very first 2019 ZR1 in the world to help people in need and one-hundred percent of the hammer price goes to help, no auction fees are deducted first, it all goes where it's needed. That's what happened on Saturday, January 20th at Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale, when the first Corvette ZR1 sold for $925,000 with all of the proceeds going to the to the Stephen Siller Tunnel to Towers Foundation and its Building for America's Bravest program.

Homes for Heroes

The Siller Family established the foundation to honor the memory of their brother, Stephen, who lost his life on September 11, 2001, as an FDNY firefighter. The goal of the Tunnel to Towers Foundation is to promote programs that support first responders and injured service members. Building for America's Bravest builds smart homes for catastrophically injured service members returning home. Each of the homes is individually designed to address the particular needs of each individual. In addition, the homes, which are energy efficient, automated and easily accessible, use "adaptive technology" to help the most severely injured of America's heroes live improved, more independent lives.

LT5

Chevrolet's 2019 ZR1 is the fastest, most advanced Corvette ever produced for public consumption. It uses technology developed from Corvette Racing, not the least of which is a new, and fully hand-built, LT5 supercharged V8 engine producing 755 horsepower. GM knows that maintaining the 'Vette's winning reputation on the track and in the eyes of the public means always pushing further, and the 2019 ZR1 is proof of that ethos. The supercharged LT5 6.2-liter small-block V8 engine adds 715 ft/lbs of torque to go along with those 755 horses, features dry-sump lubrication and receives cooling via five new heat exchangers. The ZR1's chassis comes with magnetic ride control, an electronic limited-slip differential, and performance traction management, with braking provided by Brembo® carbon-ceramic brakes. The winning bidder can choose either a 7-speed manual transmission (with active rev matching) or an available paddle-shift 8-speed automatic transmission, and also gets their choice of either a coupe or convertible version of the Corvette.

Carbon Cornucopia

Whichever configuration they choose, the winning bidder's 'Vette will make extensive use of carbon-fiber and advanced aero. The ZR1's exterior features a carbon-fiber halo hood that reveals the carbon-fiber engine cover, as well as a removable roof panel, front splitter, rockers and rear wing—all from visible carbon-fiber. The Corvette has a ZR1-specific front grille and fenders and comes equipped with 19" x 10.5" front and 20" x 12" rear wheels wrapped in Michelin Pilot Super Sport tires—the ZTK Track Performance Package adds an adjustable carbon-fiber high stanchion-mounted wing and carbon-fiber end caps on the front splitter, and features Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 summer-only tires, along with upgraded shocks and springs. The interior boasts special ZR1 badging and includes 3ZR level gloss carbon-fiber trim and a leather instrument panel.

VIN 001 Wins

In the words of Barrett-Jackson CEO Craig Jackson, “We’re incredibly fortunate to have the resources to support wonderful organizations that strive to make a difference for so many people in need. To date, Barrett-Jackson has helped raise nearly $96 million for charity and those funds, along with the generous donations that will be raised in Scottsdale, bring much-needed relief to countless people through many great charities.” When Barrett-Jackson joins forces with Chevrolet and one lucky bidder to help those in need, we all win.
