LS Fest West 2024 Recap
LS Fest West 2024 may have had a bit of rain, but that was quickly chased away with burnouts, drag racing, and an enthusiastic crowd.
Anytime you plan an automotive event, you pray for good weather. LS Fest West 2024 was held on April 26 – 28 at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. Las Vegas sees only about 5 inches of rain per year, so the odds of having dry weather are in your favor. However, the first day of the event was a wet one this year. And that really didn’t matter a hill of beans to the spectators or participants. The weather dried up and the tire-shredding action was as hot as ever. LS1Tech, is an LS Fest sponsor, so of course we were there to witness it all firsthand.
As usual, there were plenty of Corvettes and Camaros putting on a show. But as always there was a wide variety of LS swapped vehicles taking part in the festivities. And if you have never been to an LS Fest, let me tell you, the festivities are many. Drag racing, autocross, off-roading, burnouts, drifting, dyno challenges, and a whole lot more keep you entertained. Actually, it keeps you more than entertained, it overwhelms your senses with LS-powered awesomeness.
Do You Like Corvettes?
Well, just about every generation of Corvette was represented at LS Fest West 2024. And the Corvettes didn’t just show up, they won. Grand Champion in the Late Model class is Duke Langley in his 2002 Chevrolet Corvette.
But it was the Corvette fans that were the real winners, because there were so many of them on display and in action.
LS Swaps
Your car doesn’t need to have been originally equipped with an LS engine in order to take part in LS Fest West. In fact, some of our favorite machines are those that have had an LS swap. We get a little extra pleasure out of seeing Fords running LS engines.
But it is not just Fords that get LS swaps. There are plenty of European and Japanese vehicles that become blessed with LS power, and we are here for it.
Mind If I Smoke?
Another highlight of LS Fest West 2024 was the sight, sound, and smell of burning rubber. Between the burnout challenge, the drifting competition, and the Up in Smoke Show, inside the Donut Pit at LS Fest West there was enough tire smoke in the air to turn day into night.
What we covered here is just a small recap of some of the action that took place at LS Fest West 2024. There is so much to see and do, that you really have to attend one in person to understand what this event is really all about. Thankfully you won’t have to wait too long. LS Fest Texas is coming up on May 17-18. More LS-powered shenanigans are guaranteed. And as we saw this year in Las Vegas, it takes a lot more than a bit of rain to dampen the enthusiasm surrounding this incredible event.
