Meet the Spada Codatronica. It Used To Be a C6 Z06.

Italian coach builder Spada gave their style to the C6 Z06 and called it the Codatronica. We’ll let you decide how they did.

It has a name that sounds like a Palm Pilot accessory from the late 90’s. It has a nose like the Beaky Buzzard cartoon character. There’s vivid colors combined with angular shapes which look great on a side-by-side or a SeaDoo. However, it is neither of these. But at least it has a 7.0 liter V8 engine. Called the Spada Codatronica, it is an Italian made re-body of the Corvette C6 Z06.

We discovered this car over on Catawiki, and since we saw it, now you get to as well. Spada is an Italian design firm, and decided a GT car would be the best way to flex their design muscles. It’s meant to honor the Alfa Romeo TZ, with it’s unique trunkated tail. However, this one in particular is a TSS Monza Barchetta. So you get no roof, no windscreen, and a direct wind-in-your-face driving experience.

All of those exterior styling bits also carry over into the interior. Stripped bare then covered in more green, the interior features motorsport gauges and data systems. You do get a 6-speed manual transmission as a bonus.

Now, Corvette never made a Z06 convertible, so we’re not sure if this started as a Z06 and had the roof zipped off, or if it started as a C6 convertible, and had the 7.0 liter LS7 V8 dropped in. We’re guessing it started as a Z06.

Hardware was upgraded as well. There’s now a supercharger on the V8, with a reported power output of 720 horsepower. Catawiki quotes the top speed at 208 miles per hour. It seems like a very ambitious number, and probably one claimed by Spada. We’re going to guess the “revised” aerodynamics of the Codatronica aren’t conducive to those kinds of speeds. But who’d test it out anyway?

The Codatronica gave us at LS1Tech an interesting conversation though. Has there ever been a good looking re-bodied Corvette? Most of the time they end up being oddly proportioned, overly kitschy, or downright ugly.
