Chevelle, Restored

Have you seen this restored Chevelle at Barrett-Jackson? This beautifully restored 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle Convertible blends the best of the past with the present. Find out what makes this custom convertible worthy of its nameplate, and price tag...

LS3 Power

The first stop for mods was the engine and powertrain for the beloved classic. This Chevelle was professionally restored with Chevy's small-block 376ci LS3 Chevy engine that produces 480 horsepower.  This modern Chevelle is mated to an L780 6-speed automatic transmission turning a 9” Currie rear end with 3.70 gears.  The 3.70 gears should make for a comfortable ride on the freeway for this convertible power boat.

Lipstick Interior

Inside, the custom "Lipstick Red" leather interior really helps to breathe new life into the cabin. Using seven hides of leather, the checkered stitching and SS embroidery should ensure you and your passengers have no problem making a statement.

Pioneer Sound

Good power and good interior are usually complimented well with a decent sound system. The creators of this custom Chevelle convertible installed a 2500-watt, 8-speaker Pioneer sound system to ensure the music will be heard over the engine. Just a guess but this system is probably almost 50 times louder than the factory speakers that came on the original stock 1970 Chevelle.

Air Ride Suspension

This custom Chevelle was also fitted with a RideTech Shockwave air-ride system and sits on a Schwartz Performing race chassis.  Schwartz notes that their chassis is torsionally 200% stiffer than the stock A-body frames, and weighs 125-lbs less, roller-to-roller!

The Finer Details

Other touches to this 1970 Chevy Chevelle custom convertible include Baer 6-piston brake calipers with 14” rotors in the front and rear; a Rick’s Tanks stainless-steel fuel tank and Vintage Air; Ididit keyless steering column installed on the Fesler door panels; Kindig-It shaved door handles; a Stayfast power canvas convertible top with a rear glass window; and finally, Forgeline 3-piece wheels fitted with Michelin tires.

Shock Value

If you like what you see on this 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS, it's listed on Barrett-Jackson for $253,000.  The combination of a classic muscle car with modern amenities and tech might make it a worthy investment for someone's dream car collection, not mine, but someone's.
