5 Reasons to Buy a 2011-13 CTS-V Wagon
The station wagon doesn't get a lot of love, but Bob Lutz loved them enough to green light the CTS wagon body style, and then to bestow it with all the CTS-V goodies. If you don't think you want one now, keep reading.
1. Unique Styling and Curb Appeal
The CTS-V Wagon proves what the Europeans have known for decades: Any good looking sedan looks even better as a wagon. Is there any other vehicle that can be used to take the kids to school, haul around big slobbery dogs, and get bulk sizes of groceries? Even loaded up and doing yeoman's duty, they continue to deliver an amazing level of performance and style.
2. Power and Performance
With 556-horsepower, a six-speed transmission and 19-inch wheels with high-performance Brembo brakes, the CTS-V provides new dimension, and meaning to the term "sport wagon." Wagon racers have know for years that with traditional front engine, rear drive set ups, a wagon has better traction and weight distribution. They may weigh more, but all that weight is directly over the rear wheels to deliver a much better dynamic package.
3. Modern Luxury
Inside the cabin, it's all 21st century Cadillac. Elegant lines, modern soft touch points, and all the features you expect, and admire -- in a spacious, comfortable, up to date cockpit.
4. Cargo Space
The CTS sedan and coupe are good sized cars with plenty of room for passengers, but the wagon one ups them both. Traditionally called "Shooting Brakes" in Europe, luxury wagons were used to transport well to do hunting parties, with extra room for guns and gear. The CTS-V Wagon delivers exceptional cargo room, and the ability to carry a wide range (and size) of assorted gear and luggage.
5. Bragging Rights
For a while Cadillac lost some of its luster, but these days once again a Cadillac shouts to the world the you've arrived. The CTS-V Wagon earned two consecutive "10 Best" trophies from Car and Driver magazine, it delivers 0-60 times in the low four-second range, and the quarter mile in the low 12-second range. That puts the CTS-V Wagon heads-up with a 2014 Corvette, and lengths ahead of any other sport wagon. Now that the dust has settled, it looks like there were only about 1,300 of them produced, ever as well, so it is an instant collectable.
