1. 1969 Yenko Camaro

When the Camaro was introduced, it went head-to-head with the Mustang which, to be honest, was just a car for receptionists. But Don Yenko, Chevy dealership owner, looked at the car and said nope. He retrofitted some 7.0-liter 427-cubic-inch V8s into a few Camaros and the rest, as they say, was history. By 1969, Chevy corporate got behind Yenko and gave him corporate backing to sell them as (drum roll) the COPO. In the film 2 Fast 2 Furious, a Yenko (replica) was outfitted with an ejector seat, and driven onto a boat by the late Paul Walker's character.

2. 1992 Camaro Z28 1LE

Unbutton your shirt, pop in your dad's Journey cassette, and put on your favorite gaudy gold chain because it's time to go back to the late 80's to early 90's! This third-gen Camaro took the boxy look of the time and then paired it with a brash Americana, screw-you Gorbachev 305-cubic-inch 5.0-liter V8 that would slap you across the face, and named it the sledgehammer. This generation also had upgraded handling that dripped down from the fourth-gen Corvette that was developed concurrently with it. You had all of that in the third-gen, but don't even ask how to cool off because air conditioning was not offered in this one.

3. 2002 Camaro SS

If you bought this car for $25,000, then you probably got the aluminum-block, can-do-no-wrong LS1 V8 that puts out 305 horsepower (though that is more like 325), depending on the parts you chose to go along with it. The fourth-gen Camaro just didn't do well on the market due to the time it was introduced being the rise of the "SUV on giant chrome rims" era, so they languished on dealer lots. Put the market, along with the Chevy brass stuffing everything short of the kitchen sink into the car, and it was a bit too heavy for its own good. However, if you purchase one of these and put it on a diet by stripping out things like the rear seats, you'll find a lively, go-happy muscle car.

4. 2014 COPO Camaro

Take the 2014 Camaro and pour a whole can of angry all over the engine, and you get the non-street legal COPO model. It actually went for sale in 2015, but who actually bought that thing for $95,000?! COPO, for those who don't know, stands for "Central Office Production Order" and came in various configurations with differing horsepower, ranging from the 5.7 to 7.0-liter V8. The 0-60 time on this one was 4.5 seconds with the car topping out at 175 mph!

5. 2014 Camaro Z/28

When the Camaro came back in 2010, it was modeled after the predecessors of old, so much so that the handling wasn't so great like the older models, too. By the time the 2014 model arrived, the engineers had found the right settings and dialed them all in to deliver the Z28 that offered a different steering wheel, tires, and suspension geometry from what was in the 2010 year. This was the Camaro that looked square at the Porsche 911 and said, "COME AT ME, BRO!"

6. 2017 Camaro ZL1

With this new 10-speed auto that is a first in any volume production car, there are power and torque coming out of every panel in this ZL1. Almost instantaneous shifts, greater overall performance, and an aggressive first gear pushes the car with 650 horsepower to say "hi" to 60 in 3.5 seconds! For those who have this car on their short list for future purchases will do well to know that this car also does the quarter-mile in 11.4 seconds at 127 mph. Drag strip participators rejoice!

7. Hennessey 2016 Camaro

John Hennessey out in Texas took a factory new SS with a stock rating of 455 horsepower and turned that dial up to a nice round 4-digit output. Now with 1,000 horsepower, the HPE1000 has a supercharged V8 that stroked to 416 cubic inches along with forged aluminum pistons, stainless steel long tube headers and a bevy of other upgrades. You can get all this in either an automatic or manual transmission; and for the worry heavy, there is a one-year 12,000-mile warranty! Once you shell out the $65,000 for all of that goodness, you'll receive a car that's signed with numbered badges along with a certificate you can frame to vouch for its authenticity.
