Equus Automotive Creates Throwback Corvette
Equus Automotive has effectively created a car that appears to be every generation of Corvette thrown into a blender to create this "ultimate" Vette.
The Corvette amalgamation
Some of you may be familiar with the coachbuilder known as Equus but for those who are not, they are the American equivalent of Germany's Alpina or Brabus. Starting with a C7, the firm took design cues from America's favorite sports car and rechristened the car as the Throwback. Equus describes the vehicle as the "ultimate American performance car" and has 1,000 horsepower under the hood to back up that claim.

A little from here and a little from there
The Throwback features side scallops that come from the C1, a spear down the side that evokes the 1963 Stingray, and in the rear, there are circular taillights replacing the squares that came with the factory C7. At the front are big spotlights in the bumper to aid in nighttime driving and a bulging power hump in the hood features a pair of functional heat extractors. By the way, that exterior body you see is made up entirely of carbon fiber which will serve well to keep the curb weight down.

Mum is the word
Equus is being conservative with power numbers and information on the majority of what the Throwback is capable of but did say that with an optional upgrade the car will hit 1,000hp and 822 lb-ft of torque. With numbers like that Equus claims the car will run from 0-60 in just 2.5 seconds with a top speed in excess of 220 mph.

Looks comfy and plush
Once inside the cabin which is now reupholstered with black and red Alcantara, including diamond quilting on the seats the origins of the car is readily apparent. Brushed aluminum and carbon fiber trim further act to really class up the joint with a sport flair.

It's not cheap
Equus is only doing a limited run of just 25 for the Throwback and will set pricing to start at $130,000. The firm says that customization elements are "limitless" so if a customer can throw enough money at the car they make almost whatever vehicular fantasy come true.
