1. What The 2007 Porsche 997 GT3 Can Do

Priced at $150,000, the 2007 Porsche 997 GT3 was one of the best sports cars on the scene. Courtesy of its race-derived flat-six engine, this Porsche produced 415 screaming horsepower. And thanks to its electronic damping system and its near-perfect weight distribution, this Porsche handled better than most competitors.

2. The New Engine

However, where the German flat-six Porsche engine used to be, now sits a patriotic General Motors LS3 V8 engine. The eight-cylinder aluminum block motor produces upwards of 525-horsepower. This is the same engine found in the Corvette, and in this particular case, the craigslist seller claims that the engine comes with a full warranty from Chevrolet. The LS3 motor only has 650-miles on it, and whoever takes this Porsche gets to break it in further.

3. Did You Say Hybrid?

The seller included in the ad that the Porsche 997 has a hybrid conversion along with the LS3 engine, which was done at a certified Porsche shop. A company called Renegade Hybrids is known to swap LS motors into Porsches and based on where the ad was located, this could very well be a collaboration between a Porsche shop and the Renegade Hybrids company. The engine fits in the small Porsche 997 compartment with no modifications, and it is smog legal.

4. Aftermarket Features

If the LS3 engine swap and the hybrid conversion aren't impressive enough, this Porsche comes with a data logging system in the dashboard, race seats with harnesses, as well as a solid roll cage. The LS3 works together with a six-speed transmission from Mezger Motor. The 997 is set up with a track set-up chassis and 19-inch wheels. Even after the crazy conversion, all of the safety systems work properly, as well as the air conditioner; however, the cruise control doesn't work anymore.

5. Price

This 2007 Porsche 997 GT3 was on Craigslist for $95,000. Although at first, it seemed like this is a huge number, it isn't that much considering what went into this vehicle. A Porsche like this without the LS3 engine can go for much more money, and depending on whether you think this engine is a positive addition or a negative one will determine if this is a good deal or not. Regardless of whether it is a bargain or not, the ad, unfortunately, is no longer available on Craigslist.
