1. The Original Pantry Cafe

Whether it's 6:00 am, 7:00 pm, or 3:00 am, this diner is always open. This legendary diner sits in the heart of Los Angeles, downtown. The old diner will take you back to the 1930s, and all the waiters and the staff have been working there for decades. This place is the closest thing to a time capsule that serves pancakes in Los Angeles.

2. 66 Drive-In

This Drive-in theatre was first started in 1949, so when you pull over there, picture the types of cars that sat in your spot, and soak it all in. The theater was closed for 13 years, but fortunately, it was reopened in 1998. If you're going through Missouri, try to make one of the movies on Fridays, Saturdays, or Sundays, and if you're not going to Missouri, consider taking a trip there, it's worth it. Here is the website if you'd like to check out some movie times before heading there.

This twisty tarmac in Colorado will slowly take you upwards towards the clouds while maintaining a breathtaking view at all times. Here is the website where you can put together a full list of activities for you to do while you're in the area.

4. Denver Diner

While you are in Colorado, take a drive to the Denver Diner; a place that will leave you truly full and satisfied. In 2014, this iconic diner caught fire and it had to close down for a while. Now, after $1.4 million in repairs, the diner is back, and it looks exactly the same. We couldn't find a website for them but here is the Yelp page where you can salivate over pictures of the amazing food they serve up at this mile-high city diner.

Take your car, purchase your ticket from the small tiki hut, and spend quality time with whoever is riding in the vehicle with you. Route 66 is perhaps America's most iconic road. This beautiful road goes from Chicago to Santa Monica, CA. Take it from the beginning, take it from the middle, or just drive through pieces of it, and experience gorgeous scenic views, historic monuments, and most important, the smell of American history. Here is a guide to all the places the route touches as it cuts across our great country.

7. Diner Grill

If you ever find yourself in Chicago, maybe after driving through Route 66, park your car and walk to Diner Grill. This place has been known to be the greatest cure for hangovers, so stop there and picture a great number of drunk people devouring hamburgers and eggs, while continuing to drink shots of whiskey. Unfortunately, this establishment was beset by a massive fire on Christmas Eve and was badly damaged. The Diner Grill will forever be famous for not just being open more than 70 years but for serving an intimidating dish called the Slinger. The Slinger was a combination of hash browns, burger patties, onions, chili, eggs, and cheese! We along with many others are rooting for the Diner Grill will one day open once more to serve delicious food to the many people that seek it out daily. Here is a great article on how the Slinger and a certain burger gained such prominence at the Diner Grill.
