Replacing the side mirrors on your Chevrolet Camaro when they break is an important safety maintenance item. Learn how to do it here.
This article applies to the Chevrolet Camaro (2010-present).
The side mirrors on your Chevrolet Camaro help to prevent accidents when changing lanes, and it feels strange to drive without them. A dealership will charge you a lot of money to replace a broken one, mostly on labor. This DIY will show you how to get the door panel off and replace the side mirror yourself. Whether you want to install after market mirrors or you broke your current ones, this guide will assist you in replacing them on your 5th generation Camaro.
Materials Needed
- Socket
- Philips screwdriver
- Flathead screwdriver
- Replacement mirror
Step 1 – Remove door panel
To remove the door panel, first you will need to pull the speaker cover up. Remove the screws circled in green in Figure 2. To access the screw inside the door handle, you will need to gently use your flathead screwdriver to pry off the plastic trim, then you can unscrew it. Once all the screws are removed, pull the door panel off. It is still held in place by a number of retainers, so it's normal to hear clicking noises.
Step 2 – Remove side mirror
To remove the side mirror, you will need to remove the three screws holding it in place. Be careful not to let the mirror fall when you remove the screws. Remove the mirror's electrical harness.
Step 3 – Install new mirror
With the old mirror out of the way, install the wires into the new mirror, then tighten the mirror's screws. Align the door panel in place and push the edges in until they click into place. Install the screws holding the panel in place. Finally, install the new mirror's outside cover by just clicking it into place.
