Not only does this 17-digit number offer very crucial information about the history of your vehicle, including, but not limited to, all currently installed factory options as well as the name and location of the plant in which your vehicle was manufactured, but it also offers an up-to-date breakdown of all maintenance work, including any and all repairs that have been made on your vehicle, including professional repair and maintenance work paid for by previous owners of your vehicle (if applicable).

Vehicle Identification Number (VIN)

While it's true your vehicle's VIN can be found at the base of the windshield and in the doorjamb on the driver's side of your vehicle, you can also find it on your insurance card, vehicle registration documents and vehicle title. Online VIN decoders make it easy to decode your vehicle's VIN in minutes. Simply input the 17-digit number into the online decoder to receive a complete electronic report on your vehicle's past and current mechanical and maintenance activity.

High Performance Engines: Casting Numbers

High performance engines, such as the LQ4 6.0-L engine, are always stamped with an identifying marker. Look for the stamp directly on your engine block. As an alternative measure, you may run your VIN or check your stock head gasket (driver's side) for relevant information about your engine.
