Needle in a Haystack

Barn finds are always fascinating to automotive enthusiasts. Whether it's cars you grew up dreaming about, or those you developed a love for through your adventures on the internet, stories of reintroducing forgotten, hidden gems back into the world never get old.

Rare Find

And truthfully, in the age of information, barn finds are not as easy to come by anymore. It seems most of what could have been unearthed has already been found. And that means when we do hear about them on occasion, we can truly appreciate the significance. And if we're so fortunate to find one, we'll know to jump on the opportunity in a heartbeat. That's certainly what happened to this particular Camaro.

Original Documents Included

The 1969 Camaro RS/SS big-block 396 discovered recently, collecting dust in a warehouse next to two 1930s Chevys. This old beauty was manufactured at the Van Nuys plant and sold by a dealer in San Jose, CA. It was found along with plenty of documentation to verify its origins. The two-owner Camaro was bought by the second owner from a VW dealership in 1972.

Handsome Young Fella

The second owners put their own touches on the car after purchasing it. The vinyl top was stripped off and the car was repainted from Dove White to charcoal gray It served as the wife's daily driver for many years, but it was finally put away in 1983 and forgotten over the next few decades.

Forgotten for Decades

Having been stationary for the better part of 40 years, not only is the '69 Camaro in need of a cosmetic freshening up but more importantly, it will likely require a ton of work and cash to get it running properly again. The car was sitting so long that the tires had rotten away. So it had to be carried out of its nest with dollies under the wheels.

New Life

This legend of American muscle has finally found a new home and will hopefully see much better days ahead. Considering the car has been locked away for decades, we think a full restoration would be the way to go. But it's up to the new owner now what happens to this old beauty. Regardless, we hope it finds its way back onto the road where it belongs.
