Built for the Track

The C3 Corvette has been extremely popular among restomod builders. Not just because of the availability afforded by a long production run, but also because of its classically beautiful lines. It's not every day, though, that we see a C3 restomod that is built to go head-to-head against the fastest cars of today in road racing and autocross competitions. This magnificent build sponsored by Ridetech does way more than just compete.

48-Hour Corvette

The build was undertaken by the folks at Ridetech, with the help of a number of other manufacturers. And from start to finish, the project took a mind-blowing total of just 48 hours! That's right! With 2 days of non-stop, extremely hard work, these guys were able to do what most shops would take months to complete. The 48-Hour Corvette then spent time on track with the Ridetech crew, even winning multiple races.

Lingenfelter LS7

Let's dive into the details of what makes this C3 Corvette such an amazing road racer. Starting things off with the Lingenfelter LS7 under the hood. The dry-sump 427 ci V8 is reworked to produce a massive 750 horsepower at the crank, and 620 of those horses make it down to the rear tires on E85 race fuel.

Handling the Power

A Ridetech Track 1 suspension setup helps the C3 Corvette carve through tight autocross corners with ease. And the Ridetech magnetic shocks give the suspension all the support it needs. The custom Currie aluminum rear end transfers the power out to the 18-inch Forgeline 3-piece wheels, which are wrapped in sticky Falken tires. And stopping power comes courtesy of Wilwood's six-piston brakes.

Inside the Beast

On the inside, the track-ready C3 is sporty and comfortable at the same time. The custom-built racing bucket seats are flanked by PRP harnesses for safety. The 48-Hour Corvette makes it easy to drive to the race track and drive back home in comfort, with the help of a Vintage Air AC unit. And if the engine tunes aren't your choice of music, the car even has a complete Bluetooth-ready stereo as well.

Living the Life

On the exterior, a few visual upgrades are in play. The fenders are flared out to be able to fit the wider wheels and tires. The headlights are recessed with LED lamps, and the front and rear bumpers are made of fiberglass. The hood of the Corvette is inspired by the style of the C7 Z06, with a blacked-out hood bulge. The car was sold at auction to Pat Sheely. He and his family are taking full advantage of the car, competing in, and winning races with it on a regular basis.
