A Singular Creation

Imagine a 1985 Land Rover Defender 110 reborn as a sleek single-cab pickup truck, meticulously crafted by 3R Automotive. This unique makeover marries classic Land Rover charm with contemporary performance, creating a vehicle that stands out from the crowd. And what better power plant to place at the heart of any successful restomod than a trusty old LS motor?

The Land Rover Defender Legacy

The Land Rover Defender, initially introduced in 1983 as the "Land Rover 110 / One Ten," quickly earned renown for its ruggedness and adaptability. Evolving from the Series Land Rovers, it boasted enhancements like improved suspension, brakes, and more powerful engines, setting a benchmark for off-road vehicles.

The Transformation

Starting as a modest two-door hardtop, the 1985 Defender 110 underwent a comprehensive overhaul under the skilled hands of 3R Automotive. The result? A striking pickup truck featuring a Pearl White exterior with contrasting black accents, checker-plated bed flooring, and beefy wheel arches, giving it a commanding presence on and off the road.

Power and Performance

Beneath the hood lies a formidable 6.2-liter LS3 V8 engine, supercharged to deliver an astounding 650 horsepower. Paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission, this powerhouse enables lightning-fast acceleration, propelling the Defender from 0 to 62 mph in just 5.3 seconds, a remarkable feat compared to its original specifications.

Enhanced Capabilities

To harness the immense power, the truck received a host of upgrades including lifted suspension for increased ground clearance, Land Rover Discovery disc brakes for enhanced stopping power, and a dual-range transfer case for improved off-road capabilities. These enhancements ensure the Defender retains its legendary status as a conqueror of diverse terrains.

A Landy Reimagined

This custom 1985 Land Rover Defender represents the perfect fusion of heritage and innovation, offering both style and substance in abundance. The previous appearance of this beast on an auction site was back in 2022 on Bring A Trailer, where it failed to sell with a top bid of $95K. Now scheduled for auction via Mecum Auction at their Glendale 2024 event in early March, it's estimated to fetch upward of $140K.
