Lingenfelter Builds a C8 Show Car for Continental

Is this the car (and the tuner) that'll finally crack the code on the new C8?

Special Build

Lingenfelter Performance Engineering has a long and storied history with the Corvette brand, producing a variety of performance parts and quite capable, highly memorable cars over the years. Like all Corvette specialists, they've also been hard at work on the new C8. But their most recent build, announced via Twitter by John Lingenfelter himself, was completed for another major player in the automotive parts stratosphere - Continental.

Scant Details

The C8 is decked out in Continental Tire livery and was created as a showpiece to take along as something to show off alongside the company's many rubberized wares. It's also an obvious hint that Lingenfelter is working on developing its own line of C8 parts. But otherwise, details are virtually non-existent.

Limited Progress

The Continental livery is typically saved for the very best Lingenfelter has to offer, so we imagine that there's something at play here in terms of performance. Regardless, no one has yet managed to crack the C8's ECU, so there's only so much the tuner can do here.

Dropping Hints

Last month, however, Lingenfelter hinted that it might have done something special with the C8 with an ominous social media post. It read "we've got some exciting C8 release news happening very soon." The post also invited users to sign up to receive updates via their "C8 insider access."

Still Waiting

Regardless, over a month later, we still haven't really received any earth-shattering news in terms of cracking the C8's code. However, the tuner did post a picture of the Continental C8 on the dyno with the caption "we've got some surprises coming." And thus, we wait.

Sure Sign?

Could this be a sign that Lingenfelter has managed to sort out GM's latest and greatest "uncrackable" code? Obviously, somebody has to be the first to do it, and it'll eventually happen with the C8, as it did for the C7 and most recently, the C7 ZR1.

Cracking the Code

Hopefully, that's the case, because we feel nothing but teased by these twin-turbo C8s running low boost. We want to see what the newest Corvette is truly capable of, and that'll only happen once somebody cracks the ECU. Maybe, just maybe, this car will be the one to do it.
