Raider Nation

Those who follow the National Football League will immediately recognize the connection between the colors of this 1972 Chevrolet Chevelle restomod and that of the Las Vegas Raiders. And that's because this muscle car has been designed as a tribute to Raider Nation.

Scary SS

The man behind the build has done a fantastic job of giving the car an understated, yet powerful look. "ScarySS" on the custom license plate sums it up perfectly. The Chevelle ditches its '70s chrome in favor of blacked-out trim to match the body panels. And the Raiders-inspired color scheme is completed with the addition of grey center stripes on the hood and the trunk.

LS3 Swap

The '72 Chevelle was a victim of the emissions regulations of the era, which saw its power output reduced from 450 horsepower down to a maximum of 270. This restomod project rectifies that issue by introducing a brand-new LS3 crate engine under the hood. The modern GM motor has been treated to a few performance upgrades to achieve 600 horses.

Understated Styling

It also gives the Chevelle the proper muscle car soundtrack to go with its aggressive aesthetics. Speaking of the styling, the restomod remains largely unaltered in terms of bodywork. The custom touches are limited to the aftermarket wheels and the front spoiler, both of which fit right in with the theme of the build.

A Look Inside

Climbing inside the cabin will reveal that the same understated philosophy is used with the interior upgrades as well. The only major modifications here are the modern bucket seats with quilted leather, matching rear seat design, and a custom three-spoke steering wheel for a more performance-oriented feel.

Tire Killer

Though the Scary SS is likely built more for the occasional display of power and shredding of the rear tires, it does also come with a complete suspension upgrade. The owner of this Raider Nation tribute car chose to go the traditional route with the suspension, installing a tubular system backed by Bilstein shocks. Autopia LA goes in-depth about the specifics of the build in this video.
