Sleepy Wagon

While we love a wild pro streeter or barely road-legal dragster as much as anyone, there's just something about a good sleeper that gets us even more excited. Especially when it's as incredibly clean and tastefully done as this 1964 Chevrolet Chevelle two-door wagon up for sale at Road Rich Motors. From the outside, no one would ever suspect that the uber-clean family hauler was packing some heat under the hood, and that's a good thing in our opinion.

Total Redo

The Chevelle itself has undergone an extensive, frame-off restoration with a few custom touches along the way. They include a 1965 front fascia, which the previous owner preferred to the original '64 look, though those parts are included with the sale. It's also an original V8 car and a fairly rare model in its own right.

Begging For More

Pop the hood, however, and there's nothing remotely vintage powering this vintage wagon. Instead, the large family hauler is packing a built 5.7-liter LS1 with headers, a mild Comp Cams camshaft, and RPM valvetrain components. The modern yet mild mill put down 336 horsepower and 345 pound-feet of torque on the dyno, but as we all know, it's just begging for more.

Other Mechanicals

The LS1 is backed up by rebuilt 4L60 four-speed automatic transmission and a 12-bolt limited-slip differential. BRP Hot Rods supplied the engine mounts necessary to pull off the swap, and a Holley LS swap oil pan kit helped make the conversion possible as well.

Sea of Red

While the exterior retains a mostly stock appearance, the same cannot be said for the show-stopping interior. There, a sea of red covers virtually every surface, including the comfy-looking seats, dash, steering wheel, and door panels, to name a few.

Upgraded Amenities

Other welcome amenities inside the wagon include a tilt steering column, Dakota Digital VHX analog gauges, power windows (including the tailgate window), and a Vintage Air A/C system to keep the car's occupants cool hot summer nights.

Double Take

This stunning classic Chevelle wagon could be left as-is and enjoyed as a comfy cruiser, or the new owner could throw some parts at it and make it the ultimate sleeper/show rig combination. The possibilities here are quite tantalizing, and if nothing else, this awesome wagon is guaranteed to make folks do a double-take everywhere it goes.
