Rare Gem

GM has produced so many special edition Corvettes over the years that it's truly difficult to remember all of them. But one of our personal favorites was the rather rare Ron Fellows Championship Edition. Only 399 of these cars were produced, each one designed to commemorate the racer’s career with the Corvette Racing program. And you certainly won't find many nicer examples of the breed than this low-mile gem we spotted over at Bring a Trailer

Unique Features

These special Ron Fellows cars were built only for the 2007 model year, and are unique for a number of reasons. On the outside, the Z06 model cars wear a unique Arctic White paint job with red-and-silver hash-style stripes on the front fenders reminiscent of the ones found on Fellows' own Corvette GT1 racer.

Easter Eggs

Cleverly, the graphics also incorporate a maple leaf to pay homage to Fellows' Canadian heritage. You can also find his signature on one of the hash stripes if you look hard enough. Other notable exterior features include chrome wheels, a low-profile rear spoiler, and a windshield banner.

Interior Flair

On the inside, you'll find a host of unique features including "tech pattern" accents, black and red leather on the seats, door panels, and console, along with Fellows' signature on the armrest. And well, that's about it. Regardless, GM had no problem selling every one of these cars at a $7,500 premium over a standard 2007 Z06. And today, they're still pretty sought after on the secondary market, too.

Still Fresh

These Championship Edition cars didn't come with any extra power under the hood, but still produces a healthy 505 hp and 470 lb-ft of torque from their 7.0-liter LS7 powerplants. This particular car has only 10k original miles, so we're betting that it hasn't fallen off in that department. It's also in spectacular condition as a result.

Impressive List

Ron Fellows Edition Z06s also came equipped with lots of nice luxury items, including a power driver’s seat, heated seats, Corvette racing pedal covers, a CD/XM/MP3 stereo system with front input, electric rear hatch pull-down, and a heads-up display. Other notable goodies include sticky Goodyear Eagle F1 tires and 6-piston caliper brakes with 14" front rotors and 13.4" rears.

Great Value

Overall, the Ron Fellows Championship Edition Corvette Z06 was a rather attractive package loaded with goodies. And this one also turned out to be a bargain, selling for just $33,300 when it originally stickered for over $77k. So perhaps it's better to wait a few years to buy, even when it comes to a rather rare special edition, after all.
